3/17/2023Prof. PhD. Ovidiu Predescu awarded with AVU`s Doctor Honoris Causa title
The award ceremony for conferring the high academic distinction took place in AVU`s Senate Hall, on Friday, March 17th, in the presence of a large audience, personalities of the legal world, students, and members of Arad `s academic community.
Professor Predescu is the Secretary-General of the Romanian Academy of Legal Sciences, a renowned theoretician and practitioner of Criminal Sciences. He is an expert in the field of human rights with applicability in Romanian criminal proceedings. He has contributed to the development of legal sciences and has played a defining role in shaping young Romanian legal professionals.
"It is an honour for our university to welcome Professor Predescu into its academic community. His contributions to the development of legal sciences are recognized nationally and internationally, and we are convinced that he will play an important role in the institution`s development" declared AVU Rector, Ramona Lile.
"I am honoured to be part of Aurel Vlaicu University`s academic community, a university of the future. It will be my pleasure to contribute to the development of the institution," observed Prof. Ovidiu Predescu.
The Laudatio committee led by Radu Ioan - AVU Senate President - included personalities from the legal and academic world: Prof. CIUCĂ Liviu-Bogdan, PhD, "Dunărea de Jos" University of Galați, President of the Romanian Academy of Legal Sciences; Prof. DUȚU Mircea, PhD, Ecological University of Bucharest, Director of the "Acad. Andrei Rădulescu" Institute of Legal Research within the Romanian Academy; Prof. habil. DUVAC Constantin, PhD, Romanian-American University of Bucharest, President of the Romanian Association of Criminal Sciences; Prof. habil. IANCU Elena-Ana, PhD, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, President of Section 3 - Methodology of Criminal Investigation - of the Romanian Forensic Scientists Association.
