400 Mathematicians at UAV

Students from Romania, Hungary, and Serbia with a passion for mathematics and computer science filled the laboratories and classrooms of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad this Saturday. Participating in the 15th edition of the “Caius Iacob” International Mathematics and Computer Science Competition, the 400 young contestants competed in three categories: mathematics, computer science, and programming (for university students).

Present at the opening ceremony were: UAV Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teodor Florin Cilan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihai Chiș – Vice President of the Romanian Mathematical Sciences Society, Prof. Dr. Sorin Nădăban – Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences, School Inspector for Mathematics Prof. Alexandru Popa, and Mihaela Draica – Director at Raiffeisen Bank.

The competition was supported by Raiffeisen Bank, BRD, Banca Transilvania, and QST!

The awards ceremony will take place on May 26 at 5:00 PM, at UAV’s Complex M.
