UAV – Strategic Partnership with Deggendorf Institute of Technology
2/18/2026A project funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the development of a strategic partnership between “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad (UAV) and Deggendorf Institute of Technology (THD), opening new directions for collaboration in practice-oriented education, research, and knowledge transfer. Within the project, the following faculties are involved on the German side: the Faculty of Applied Economics, the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Industrial Engineering, and the European Campus Rottal-Inn. From UAV, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport are participating.
“We are very pleased to build, together with UAV, an intensive partnership with yet another renowned university. These connections represent a real benefit for both students and academic staff on both sides,” stated THD President, Prof. Waldemar Berg.
The Rector of UAV, Associate Professor Teodor Florin Cilan, PhD, emphasized the importance of this initiative for the university’s internationalization strategy:
“The visit to Deggendorf Institute of Technology marks an important step in strengthening the internationalization of ‘Aurel Vlaicu’ University of Arad. The DAAD-funded strategic partnership offers us the opportunity to develop concrete projects in areas such as tourism, management, and sport, with a direct impact on the quality of education and applied research.
We appreciate the openness and professionalism of our German colleagues and are confident that this collaboration will generate real benefits for students, academic staff, and the communities we represent.”
The UAV delegation present in Deggendorf included the Rector of UAV, Associate Professor Teodor Florin Cilan, PhD; the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Associate Professor Viorel Petru Ardelean, PhD; and Professor Silviu Gabriel Szentesi, PhD, from the Faculty of Economic Sciences.
