Faculty of Theology to host International Symposiums

How does the Orthodox Church respond to contemporary challenges? What is the significance of orthodox faith during the pandemic, what is the church`s reaction to the influence of the online environment and what is its missionary purpose?

These are some of the questions that will get answers during the two symposiums (organized under the aegis of The Ministry of Education on the 20st and 21st of September) hosted by AVU`s „Ilarion V. Felea” Faculty of Theology in partnership with Arad`s Archdiocese, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Athens and the Academy of Christian Theology from Warsaw.

The symposiums will start Monday the 20st of September at 9.30 and will last for 2 days.

The fists Symposium, organized by the Doctoral School, - “Society under siege. Significances of church faith” - will feature lectures from Professor PhD. Eirini Christinaki-Glarou & Professor PhD. Jerzy Ostapczuk Drd. Vassilios Meichanetsidis, (University of Athens) PhD candidate Spyridon-Ioannis Vougiouklakis (University of Athens) as well as Panteleimon Karczewski and Daria Kania (PHD candidates with the Christian Theological Academy of Warsaw). They will be joined by professors from the University of Craiova`s Faculty of Theology, The Faculty of Theology from Sibiu and „Ilarion Felea” Faculty of Theology from Arad.

The second symposium “National undergraduate and MA student symposium: Challenges faced by the church in the online environment. Pastoral typologies and missionary attitudes” is dedicated to, and joined by, MA students from AVU`s Faculty of Theolog, „Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Iasi, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Craiova, „Sf. Andrei Șaguna” Faculty of Theology of Sibiu, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Cluj-Napoca, „Episcop Dr. Vasile Coman” Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Oradea and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Alba Iulia.
