A Meaningful Event, Supported by “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad

“Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad was an active partner in an event with profound emotional and social impact, organized during the winter holidays for persons deprived of liberty from Timișoara Prison – the GAZ external section and the permanent residential unit in Săcălaz. Through the direct involvement of university students, coordinated by Prof. Alina Breaz, PhD, the initiative helped create a setting that enabled parents to be reunited with their children, offering a moment of reconnection, hope, and humanity.

The participation of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, represented by its Rector, Assoc. Prof. Teodor Florin Cilan, PhD, reflects the institution’s mission to promote education grounded in values, social responsibility, and civic engagement. The event was honored by the presence of Ms. Roxana Momeu, State Secretary within the Ministry of Justice, and Ms. Ioana Morar, Police Commissioner and Deputy Director General of the National Administration of Penitentiaries, who conveyed messages of support, empathy, and confidence in the process of change and social reintegration.

The atmosphere was enriched by Christmas carols performed by students of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, by the caroling group of Timișoara Prison, and by a recital by the artist Celia, transforming the gathering into a moment of deep emotion and spiritual light. The event took place at Diamond Events Restaurant in Săcălaz, which, for several hours, became a space of hope, reunion, and genuine joy.

Through this involvement, “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad reaffirms its commitment to the community and to the promotion of human values, demonstrating that education and empathy can truly contribute to the positive transformation of society.
