9/1/2021

The cornerstone for AVU`s Faculty of Economic Sciences new headquarters has been laid. A council of priests presided over by Archbishop Timotei Seviciu conducted a ceremonial blessing on the construction site located on Pavel Chinezu Street. The event has been attended by Toth Csaba, Arad`s Prefect, the President of the County Council, Iustin Cionca, Mayor Călin Bibarț, as well as by representatives of the construction and planning companies.

It is a large-scale construction project that includes the rehabilitation of Primary School No.2`s historic building, acquired by AVU, and the erection of a new wing; together these will form the faculty`s new headquarters.

The investment valued at almost 7 million euros has been made possible by winning the „Reabilitare, modernizare, extinderea și echiparea clădirii Corp A, din str. Paul Chinezu nr. 10, demolare parțială corp B”, European project submitted within the Regio programme, ADR VEST 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programme.

„It is one of AVU`s most important investments. I would like to extend my gratitude to all involved colleagues. the project team as well as those handling the construction and planning part. We are delighted that in a few years we`ll be able to offer all Economic Sciences students an exceptional new building, a modern piece of infrastructure dedicated to the educational process. We are looking forward to inaugurating the building in 2023” declared AVU`s Rector Ramona LILE.

What does this project mean for the local authorities?

Arad`s Prefect “I can only congratulate the university`s managerial team for this initiative, for this project. I would like to assure everyone involved that the institution represented by me offers its full support and hopefully at the established date we`ll be able to inaugurate the building”, declared Csaba Toth.

President of the County Council “What I have witnessed here today confirms that Arad has a bright future ahead. This project contributes not only towards the university’s institutional development but also towards Arad`s development - and implicitly of the Western Region as a whole” said Iustin Cionca.

Arad`s Mayor „I am delighted that the university took another step towards its own consolidation. There are three essential elements involved: the teaching staff, the student body and the infrastructure. I believe that a modern infrastructure along an elite teaching staff will attract students towards Arad. Secondly, I would like to mention that this project represents an ideal recipe for the city: attracting European money, working with local companies for a local institution. I would like to congratulate those that made all this possible” remarked Călin Bibarț.
