Peer review
Peer review process
All documents submitted for publication are evaluated as follows: - the manuscripts are assessed internally to determine if they (a) correspond to the scientific areas promoted by AVU and (b) their fulfillment of internal editorial standards; - in case the manuscript is validated, it is sent to be evaluated by two reviewers from within the publishing house`s scientific committee, or , if necessary, to external collaborators; - the two reviewers work independently from each other based on rigorous scientific evaluation methods, such as:
a) scientific value; b) innovation and topic novelty; c) relevance and field impact; d) data quality; e) the methodology used in discussing the subject; f) the relevance of bibliographic sources; g) thoroughness in documentation and clarity in articulating the scientific content; h) quality of formatting and expression etc.
- reviewers communicate their decision and, if applicable, suggestions and observations. When there is disagreement regarding the publishing of a material, a third reviewer has to assess the material and his decision becomes final – the author is notified about the decision and the required modifications – after all requested changes are accomplished the document is returned to the original reviewers for the final decision. The publishing house communicates its verdict to the author within 30 days of receiving the material.
