Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Part of the National Dialogue on the Evaluation and Funding of University Research
5/8/2026Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad participated on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in the national workshop “Romanian Universities in 2035: Options for the Evaluation and Funding of Research,” organized by UEFISCDI in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research. The event took place at the Institute for Advanced Environmental Research.
The rector of Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Dr. Habil. Ramona Lile, emphasized the importance of academic involvement in these processes of consultation and strategic reflection:
“The participation of universities in such debates is essential for shaping educational and research policies adapted to the challenges of the future. Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad supports initiatives that encourage academic collaboration, excellence in research, and the development of sustainable mechanisms for the evaluation and funding of universities in Romania.”
The workshop was part of a series of five events organized in different university centers across the country, aiming to facilitate the participation of the academic community in debates regarding the future of university research in Romania. The meeting was designed in an interactive format, based on collaborative group work and a foresight approach, with the purpose of identifying possible directions for the evolution of the research system by 2035 and outlining evaluation and funding mechanisms capable of supporting the long-term performance of Romanian universities.
Representing Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad at the event were Senior Lecturer Dr. Eng. Babanatis-Merce Roxana Mihaela, Vice-Rector responsible for pre-university, dual, tertiary, and adult continuing education, as well as Prof. Univ. Dr. Habil. Dana Maria Copolovici.
