Professor Cristian D. Popescu – Academic Dialogue with UAV Researchers

Between July 2–6, 2025, "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad had the honor of hosting Professor Dr. Doc. Cristian D. Popescu as part of the UAV Visiting Professor Program.

An internationally renowned researcher affiliated with prestigious institutions such as the University of California at San Diego, Princeton University, the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, the “Simion Stoilow” Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy, and the American Mathematical Society, Arad-born Professor Cristian Popescu was the guest of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering. During his visit, he participated in a series of meetings and discussions with the academic staff of the public university in Arad.

Throughout the visit, valuable academic exchanges took place, focusing on current research directions in mathematics, international collaboration opportunities, and the development of joint scientific projects. The open dialogue and Professor Popescu’s expertise provided a reflective and inspiring framework for the academic community at UAV.

A key moment of the visit was the meeting with the university’s rector, Associate Professor Dr. Teodor Florin Cilan, which laid the groundwork for future international collaborations.

The visit also included a tour of the university’s main research facilities and laboratories within its institutes, where ongoing projects, technological equipment, and recent research results were presented.

This visit was made possible thanks to the initiative and involvement of UAV’s Vice-Rector, Professor Dr. Liviu Sevastian Bocîi, and it strengthens "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad’s commitment to academic excellence, internationalization, and supporting research through dialogue and sustainable partnerships.
