“GLOBAL FORUM – The New World Order in the Making: Impact on Europe and the Balkan Region”

The international scientific conference “GLOBAL FORUM – The New World Order in the Making: Impact on Europe and the Balkan Region” took place in the Ferdinand Hall of the Arad City Hall, bringing together distinguished professors, researchers, geopolitical analysts, and institutional representatives from several European countries.

The Forum was organized by the Institute for Geopolitical Studies of Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad (IGS-UAV) and the European Research Institute for Strategic Studies (ERISS) from Ljubljana, with the aim of providing an in-depth academic and scientific analysis of the ongoing global geopolitical transformations and their impact on Europe and the Balkan region.

“In a global context marked by rapid transformations and the redefinition of international balances, we believe that universities have the responsibility to create spaces for scientific analysis and debate. The presence of prestigious specialists and experts at the Global Forum organized by IGS-UAV confirms the relevance and credibility of our academic initiatives,” stated the rector of Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Dr. Habil. Ramona Lile.

The event stood out through its outstanding academic level and the international reputation of its participants. Among the invited speakers were Peter Raspor from the University of Ljubljana, one of Europe’s leading experts in food security and strategic resources; Darko Tanasković, distinguished diplomat and university professor; Timothy Less from the Centre for Geopolitics at University of Cambridge, a recognized geopolitical analyst and expert on Balkan and European affairs; Radu Carp; Ben-Oni Ardelean, president of the Political Leadership Academy; Filippo Maria Sardella from IARI Catania; Dragan Dakić; as well as numerous respected researchers and academics from Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Italy, Republika Srpska, and the United Kingdom. Among the speakers was also Bogdan Vukosavljević, director of the Institute for Geopolitical Studies within Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, who addressed the challenges of accepting a new world order from both European and Balkan perspectives.

During the Forum, topics of major relevance to contemporary international relations were discussed, including geopolitical transformations, European security, migration, strategic resources, and the role of the Balkans within the emerging new global order.

Following the academic sessions, a roundtable discussion was held at a remarkable scientific and professional level, characterized by a dynamic and interactive dialogue among speakers, participants, and the audience. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of open academic debate and scientifically grounded discussions regarding the major contemporary global challenges. The debates conveyed a clear public message concerning the need for a serious scientific approach to understanding current geopolitical developments affecting Europe and the Balkan region.

The organizers emphasized that the Forum represents an important step in strengthening international academic cooperation and in establishing Arad as a relevant regional center for geopolitical and strategic studies.
