20 Years of Movement, Performance, and Education

UAV’s Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Celebrates Two Decades of Excellence

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad marked its 20th anniversary with a festive event and the 8th edition of the competition “Arad University Sports Days.”

The celebration, held between November 5–6, 2025, brought together officials, sports figures, faculty members, UAV students, and guests from “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia and the University of Szeged.

The official opening featured moments of recognition and awards, followed by a series of sports demonstrations performed by students and graduates of the faculty:

• Sport Dance – Richard Moroșan (Top Dance Club 2007)

• Karate Demonstrations – Bianca Coraș and Larisa Panc (CS Budokai Arad) and Melissa Marcoș (Tiger Club Karate Arad)

• Majorette Twirling – Mihali Eva-Cristina (CS Mistral Arad)

• Aerobic Gymnastics – team coordinated by Odorog Elena, Denisa Maxinan, and Haidu Ramona

• Folk Dances – “Arădeana” Ensemble, led by Ban Teodor (master’s/bachelor’s student, Physical Education and Sports)

“These have been 20 years of hard work, passion, and performance. I congratulate my colleagues from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports for their constant contribution to the university’s development and for the results that reflect the excellence of their work. Each generation of students, together with their professors, has built a community where movement, education, and team spirit intertwine harmoniously,”
said Prof. Liviu Sevastian Bocîi, PhD, Habil., Vice-Rector of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad.

The “Arad University Sports Days” competitions continued with table tennis, 3x3 basketball, and 5+1 football matches among the three universities’ students. The University of Szeged teams won the women’s basketball, tennis, and football competitions, the “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia team placed second in football, while the UAV team won the men’s basketball event.
