POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF THE BIOCHAR OBTAINED FROM SEWAGE SLUDGE

Abstract

The present review has in attention the valorisation of the sewage sledge from the wastewater treatment
plants, as this represents a major concern for the public health and the environment. Its processing for the obtaining of
the sludge-based biochar can be further used for the removal of some pollutants from the environment. The possibility to
use the sludge-based biochar for the removal of heavy metals and of organic pollutants is presented.
