The Romanian Language Preparatory Year

This language course is meant for foreign students who wish to study in the Romanian language (bachelor, master or PhD programme) and do not have a language proficiency certificate in this respect.

The aim of the Preparatory Year language course is to develop foreign students’ skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking in Romanian for academic purposes. During this course students acquire general knowledge of Romanian language as well and specific terminology and knowledge related to the following fields of study: mathematics and natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and arts, sports and physical education, biological and biomedical sciences.

By the end of the course, students will reach level B2 of the Common European Framework.

Foreign citizens who speak the Romanian language, but do not have a language proficiency certificate to prove that, must pass an exam in order to obtain the Romanian language proficiency certificate. Only after passing the exam, will they be accepted in the first year of study.

Foreign citizens with documents proving that they have followed at least 4 years of study in Romanian or undergraduate studies conducted in Romanian language, will not have to enroll for the Preparatory Year or pass the mentioned exam.
